Lost
In self
And steeped in sin.
Far
From God.
No peace within.
Guilt
I knew
And shame I felt.
Hope
Was gone;
Alone I dwelt.
Death
Was mine,
For a Godless way.
Hell
I earned;
My price to pay.
Love
He knew
For all the world.
Grace
From God
To earth was hurl'd.
Life,
He lived
And Life He gave.
Blood
He shed
For me to save.
Cross,
The grave,
And Risen Lord;
Lamb
Of God,
By God's Own Word!

This past week has been one filled with duties, responsibilities and blessings galore. I hope that time with your family, friends and church activities have been a real joy.
As you have shared your time and food with others over the Easter holidays, I wish you would also share your thoughts with us.

Uncle James, As I read this poem by You! My heart was stirred .. as I remembered where I was and fall back to at times, when I allow my flesh to take control of the day... but as I kept reading the Stirring brought me back to excitment and a renewing of KNOWING it was for me Christ died .. for me He gave His Word... The stirring within me made me realize the Spirit is Alive even within Words! God is so precious to give us His words and through words He restores us!!
ReplyDeleteOur church used to put on a Passion ministry eery Easter and if there is one thing that can bring Easter to life is standing in a robe and barefoot at the base of the cross watching the crucifiction of Christ being relived. Every Easter those visions of Christ on the cross I still see.. and the loud weeping and yelling I still hear.. There is nothing that brings it to life than acting it out and putting your heart into making the audience believe ... There is somewhere in the midst of the passion that turns to real passion and we totally realize our humble Worship. Each Easter since then its a time to relive and read the Easter Story with true worship and extreme appreciation of What He did for us!
Thank you Uncle James for your beautiful words! I love your poem! It is precious and humbling!
Love you!!!
Kim, Your insights are appreciated as you share them with all the readers of OCS. Thank you for them, but especially for the honesty that you show in your confessions. The scripture teaches us to "confess our faults one with another." It helps each of us when we are accountable for others.
